HDMI and DVI

June 16, 2020

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a digital video/audio Interface technology. It is a special digital Interface suitable for image transmission. It can transmit audio and video signals at the same time.

The extra space provided by HDMI can be used in future updates to audio and video formats. Because a 1080p video and an 8-channel audio signal require less than 0.5GB/s, HDMI has a large margin. This allows it to connect the DVD player, receiver and PRR with a cable.

DVI is the digital video interface. DVI is based on TMDS (Transition Minimized Differential Signaling), minimum Differential signal technology to transmit digital signals, using advanced coding algorithm TMDS the 8 bit data (R, G, B each of the primary signal) with a minimum of transcoding is 10 bit data (contain line synchronous information, clock, data DE, error correction, etc.), after DC balance, USES the Differential signal transmission data, compared with an LVDS, TTL, it has better performance of electromagnetic compatibility, Long distance and high quality digital signal transmission can be realized by using low cost special cable.
