Four Interface types for computer graphics cards: VGA, DVI, HDMI, DP

The full name of the computer graphics card is the video card (Graphics card), also known as the video adapter, and the display configuration card is referred to as the graphics card for short. It is one of the most basic components of a personal computer. For the graphics card interface types, it mainly includes the four more common interfaces of VGA, dvi/HDMI, and dp, and of course there are others.

The VGA interface is the most common, that is, our usual computer Monitor is connected to the host. The VGA interface is a D-type interface with a total of 15 pins on it, divided into three rows of five. And the VGA interface is more extensible and can be easily converted with the DVI interface. At present, most computers and external display devices are connected through the analog VGA interface. The display image information generated by the computer in a digital manner is displayed by the digital /Analog converter transforms into R, G, B three primary color signals and horizontal and vertical synchronization signals, and the signals are transmitted to the display device through the cable. For analog display devices, such as analog CRT displays, the signal is directly sent to the corresponding processing circuit, which drives and controls the picture tube to generate images. For digital display devices such as LCD and DLP, the display device needs to be equipped with a corresponding A/D (analog/digital) converter to convert analog signals into digital signals. After D/A and A/D 2 conversions, some image details are inevitably lost. It is understandable that the VGA interface is used in CRT displays, but when used to connect display devices such as liquid crystals, the image loss during the conversion process will slightly reduce the display effect.

DVI interface: LCD display interface came into being, DVI (Digital Video Interface), that is, digital video interface.

HDMI interface: HD input

The high-definition multimedia interface is a digital video/audio interface technology. It is a dedicated digital interface suitable for image transmission. It can transmit audio and video signals at the same time, and the maximum data transmission speed is 5Gbps. At the same time, there is no need to perform digital/analog or analog/digital conversion before signal transmission. Advantages of HDMI interface HDMI can not only meet the Resolution of 1080P, but also support digital audio formats such as DVD Audio, and support 8-channel 96kHz or stereo 192kHz digital audio transmission. HDMI supports EDID, DDC2B, so the device with HDMI has the "plug and play" feature, the signal source and display device will automatically "negotiation", automatically select the most suitable video/audio format. Compared with DVI, the HDMI interface is smaller in size. The length of the DVI cable cannot exceed 8 meters, otherwise it will affect the picture quality, and HDMI can transmit up to 15 meters. As long as one HDMI cable can replace up to 13 analog transmission lines, it can effectively solve the problem of messy and tangled connections behind the home entertainment system.
