Compared with DSTN, the main feature of TFT-LCD is to configure a semiconductor switch device for each pixel. Because each pixel can be directly controlled by a point pulse. Therefore, each node is relatively independent and can be controlled continuously. This design method not only improves the response speed of the display screen, but also can accurately control the display gray level, which is the reason why TFT color is more lifelike than DSTN.

At present, most notebook computer manufacturers use TFT-LCD. The early TFT-LCD was mainly used in the manufacture of notebook computers. Although TFT had a great advantage over DSTN at that time, due to technical reasons, TFT-LCD still had a big gap with traditional CRT display in Response Time, Brightness and visual angle. In addition, the extremely low yield leads to its high price, which makes the desktop TFT-LCD an unattainable feature.

However, with the continuous development of technology, the rate of good products continues to improve, coupled with the emergence of some new technologies, TFT-LCD has made great progress in response time, contrast, brightness, visual angle, and has narrowed the gap with the traditional CRT display. Nowadays, the response time of most mainstream LCD monitors has increased to less than 50ms, which paves the way for LCD to go mainstream.

TFT-LCD is a thin film transistor type liquid crystal display, that is, "true color" (TFT).

TFT liquid crystal has a semiconductor switch for each pixel. Each pixel can be directly controlled by a point pulse, so each node is relatively independent and can be continuously controlled, which not only improves the reaction speed of the display screen, but also precisely controls the color level of the display, so the color of TFT liquid crystal is more true.

TFT liquid crystal display is characterized by good brightness, high contrast, strong sense of hierarchy and bright color, but it also has the disadvantages of high power consumption and high cost.

TFT liquid crystal technology accelerates the development of mobile color screen. Many of the new generation color screen mobile phones support 65536 color display, some even support 160000 color display. At this time, TFT's high contrast and rich color advantages are very important.
