HDMI and CVBS

HDMI, short for High Definition Multimedia Interface, is a digital video/audio Interface technology. It is a specialized digital Interface suitable for image transmission and can transmit both audio and video signals. There is also no need for digital/analog or analog/digital conversion before the signal is transmitted. HDMI comes with broadband Digital Content Protection (HDCP) to prevent unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted video and audio content.

CVBS:Composite Video Broadcast Signal or Composite Video Blanking and Sync

CVBS is a widely used standard, also known as baseband video or RCA video, that is the traditional image data transmission method for television signals of the National Television Standards Board (NTSC), which transmits data in analog waveforms. The composite video contains color difference (hue and saturation) and Brightness (brightness) information, which are synchronized in blanking pulses and transmitted by the same signal. In fast-scanning NTSC televisions, the very high frequency (VHF) or ultra-high frequency (UHF) carrier is the adjusted amplitude used in the composite video, resulting in a signal approximately 6MHz wide. Some CCTV systems use coaxial cable to transmit composite video up close, and some DVD players and video tape recorders (VCRS) provide composite video input and output through a pickup socket, also known as an RCA connector. In composite video, the interference of color difference and brightness information is inevitable, especially when the signal is weak, which will cause the output image sharpness to decrease.

HDMI is the first and only supported audio/video interface in the industry that does not compress full digital audio/video. HDMI greatly simplifies wiring by transferring high-definition, all-digital audio and video content on A single cable, providing A port between any audio/video source (such as A set-top box, DVD player, or A/V receiver) and an audio and/or video Monitor (such as A digital TELEVISION DTV) on A single cable.
